For this project, I experimented with animated GIFs - the fourth dimension being time. The brief was to create (at least) 10 animations in GIF format, with a range of different frame rates - from low (3-4), medium (5-8) and high (8+). Each GIF needed to be 500 x 500 px and had to be themed on movie tropes.
I started out by experimenting with how to actually get an object to move in Photoshop. I have little to no experience using Photoshop to animate so it was very exciting to play with frames and layers, though confusing at first. I started with basic shapes to get my head around it before moving onto more ambitious things.
Trope - Walking Away From An Explosion
Trope - Defusing a Bomb
Trope - Damsel In Distress
Trope - Finger Guns
Trope - Catching someone who is falling but having them slide out of their hands and fall anyway
Trope - Fuse of a bomb
Trope - Spin The Bottle
I tried slowing down the frame of the kiss (I changed the timing from 0.1 to 0.5) to hold on the moment where their lips meet for longer to make it more important and freeze time.
Trope - Spooky Lighthouse
At this point in the project, I got some feedback from tutors which was very helpful - they suggested how I could expand on my GIFs to improve them. For example, slowing down parts of the GIF to hold on the character's expression, and to
